Our 1st GW Birthday Girl...

The Birthday Princess!!

After a long first week of classes until 4:00, study hall, dinner, independent reading, pillow talk, and finally lights out we got to take a little time to have some fun girl time painting each other's nails. Our compassionate birthday girl Briaryn is painting Cierra's nails. So sweet!

For pillow talk, the girls surprised Briaryn with a Birthday card they made, sang her "happy birthday," ate oreo's, and told her all the things they love about her. Everyone went to bed, and Briaryn and I shared the first "chocolate chat." Chocolate chat is a one-on-one conversation the girls share with me having a bite (or two) of chocolate before bed.

Creating our Journals

Everyone succeeded with a great first day of classes! YEA! After study hall, we gathered together and decorated our journals (the item received in the goodie bags) that we will be writing in through out the year. They are very cute!

Everyday, the students carry a school note and receive marks for responsible or irresponsible behavior that reflects or does not reflect the school core values of: respect, compassion, responsibility, integrity, and self-discipline. At the end of the week, students receive SEED money for the amount of points received during the week by adding up the total points on the school note.

Both girls received over 100 points!! Whoo-hooo! Keep up the great work girls!!!

Food, Medicine, & Drop Off Reminder

Just a reminder, students are never allowed to have food or medicine in their rooms. If your child needs to have medicine, it must be given to the school nurse (with a doctor's note and directions if it is a prescription). The school nurse will administer the proper dosage to your child. This is a health and safety precaution to your child receiving the medicine and those around your child.

Students are never allowed to have food in their rooms. This is a health and safety precaution so that rodents, insects, and pests do not reside in the dormitory. If your child would like to bring a treat to school, she must bring enough for the entire GW family (12 girls). The treat will be stored in a dormitory kitchen until the time it will be served in the common area. All students are expected to behave like ladies and clean up for themselves prior to teach etiquette, manners, and maintain a sanitary (and cute) common area for us to hang out in.

If you are dropping off an item for your child, please give it to the security office. The security office will notify myself and I will give your daughter a pass to retrieve the item. This is school policy and procedure to maintain order with the busy schedules, activity, and amount of students residing on campus at all times.

Also, I would like to say, you are AMAZING caregivers!!!! THANK YOU for your understanding, compliance, and hard work to make sure your student has everything she needs to be successful at SEED!!! It is greatly appreciated!

Our 1st Night!!!

Thank you parents for all your effort and attention getting your child ready and prepared for her first year at SEED! We spent the night having dinner, meeting the faculty in a meeting with all the new seventh graders, opening goodie bags in the common area talking about our first night at SEED School, and getting ready for bed. I am delighted to have such wonderful girls and families in GW House! I know this is going to be a great year!

Hello GW Sweethearts & GW Families!!!

YEA! Your finally here!!! As your Life Skills Counselor "LSC" Ms. Talbert I would like to welcome you to SEED School and George Washington House. I am SO excited for this 2007-2008 school year and thrilled to be working with you!

First of all, I want to thank you for taking the challenge and being courageous enough to leave your beloved families to enrich your academic career. I understand this is a huge sacrifice of precious family time. Parents and families, thank you so much for sharing your best with us an letting us get to know your baby girl! It is an honor to work with your daughter. I want you to know I will do everything I can to assist your child in her transition to SEED School. It is a big change. SEED School has a vision of excellence for every student. SEED School has vigorous academic challenges, tight schedules, and strict rules all in place with the hopes of preparing your child with the tools she needs to pursue her dreams in college and life.

It is an honor to be able to get to know your daughter and work with you this year. Thank you for letting me share in your lives! I look forward to getting to know everyone of you more as the school year begins. I hope we can become a team working together for the success of our young divas in George Washington House.
